Our Story

Osiligi Farm, the 'Farm of Hope', began as a prayer and a dream to give youth from challenging backgrounds a real chance of transformation.

The vision was born after a weekend trip with Manyota Boys from Mathare slum. On the way back, when they were asked where to be dropped, some said, "Drop us anywhere, we've got no place to go."

We knew that lasting change could not happen for youth who returned to the streets each night. Survival would always take priority over growth.

A Place to Grow

So, we began to pray for a home, a safe, nurturing space, ideally a farm, where the youth from vulnerable backgrounds could live, grow and learn.

That prayer was answered. Robin, the founder of Afrilift, received a call from a businessman named Robert while in New Zealand. They had never met before and when they met, Robert had a message,

"I have money to give toward a residential project for disadvantaged youth."

That generous act of faith became the seed that grew into Osiligi Farm.

The Program

The farm can host up to 30 youth at a time, each staying for a minimum of two years as part of structured rehabilitation and training program. They come to us through the Kibera Project or the Youth Prison Project, each carrying their own stories of hardship but also of potential.

Their growth is tracked through a point-based system that rewards progress in discipline, effort and teamwork. Each day offers a rhythm of learning, chores, sports, evening programs and community involvement—preparing them for real life.

At the heart of our work are three pillars:

  1. Agriculture – Through hands-on farming, young participants grow vegetables, keep bees, rear fish, pigs and cows. They also learn responsibility and business farming skills
  2. Education – We offer practical lessons
  3. Discipleship – They are guided spiritually through worship, mentorship and evening programs designed to nurture character and faith

Life After Osiligi

At the end of the program, participants are placed in jobs on local farms or training institutions, with placement carefully matched to their strengths and aspirations. Some have gone into ministry. With an impressive 76% success rate, our graduates leave Osiligi as emotionally and spiritually mature young men, ready to contribute to society.

Osiligi is more than a farm—it's a second chance.
